By the way...

I have heard a lot of discussion about the "death panel". Just by way of clarification, this death panel does not exist in the House version of the healthcare proposal. It was in the Senate version, which I have not read, only read about. Supposedly, it has been removed from the Senate version due to its controversial nature. The House version does provide for end of life counseling, which already happens with any decent doctor anyway. I'm not sure why it's even written in to this legislation, other than they're trying to encourage people to do it (which is a good idea). But we really don't need to fund a government program to do it, we should do it as responsible individuals by talking to our doctors.

Also, the House healthcare bill, no. 3200 was written way back in November 2008. I would really like to know who wrote this bill. Supposedly, Washington has been negotiating with the interested parties (insurance companies, doctors, hospitals, etc.), but I wonder how much they have actually listened. The bill had to have been written well before Obama was even elected but wasn't made available to the public until July 15, 2009. I'm really, really curious to know who authored the bill. That would be very enlightening.

Comments

  1. I wondered how such a long and detailed bill could come up so quickly. Does this mean that Obama and his groupies drafted it just at the time of his election or before? I know I sound ignorant. I really am when it comes to these things :(

  2. It had to have been written or started well before the election. They were just waiting to pounce.

In Defense of the Stay-at-home-Mom

"Democratic pundit Hilary Rosen, a political consultant who advises the Democratic National Committee, said on CNN Wednesday night that Ann Romney 'never worked a day in her life.'" (Washington Post, 4/12/12, Michael Katz) Ann Romney who has raised five boys who are all college graduates, gainfully employed, married fathers, "has never worked a day in her life." Wow, where to begin. Hilary Rosen has visited the White House over 30 times and works for the DNC. She has close ties to the Democratic party but was not speaking for the DNC. To their credit, many Democrats have distanced themselves from her comments. But her attitude towards stay-at-home mothers is indicative of how many liberals view us. It is one more glaring indication of their hypocrisy and general hatred towards the principles of conservatism, especially in the realm of women. Let us remember how Sarah Palin was treated by liberal women for NOT being a stay-at-home mom. Just one small exampl...

The American Death Cult

Cults are known for some typical but disturbing behavior. Most obvious, is the brainwashing of their members. They also specialize in controllling the flow of information; keeping vital facts from followers. They viciously attack anyone who might question their dogma or dare to leave the cult. Thinking or thoughtful discussion with others and the search for unadulterated truth are the things cults fear the most. The extreme left in this country has embraced these tactics and become a cult of death: t heir god is hedonism,  militant feminists the high priestesses, Planned Parenthood the holy temples and killing the unborn their most sacred ritual.  They are adamantly opposed to any kind of open discussion about the pluses, minuses and causes that lead women to feel they must get an abortion. They work hand-in-hand with the mainstream media to spread their orthodoxy while painting anyone who disagrees with them as the women from the Handmaid's Tale. They are currently, illegally...

No Such Thing as a Free Ride

There are two maxims that have held true for time in memoriam, "Nothing in life is free" and "You get what you pay for". Nowhere are these two principles more true than when it comes to health care. Politicians are selling "free" health care to the American people, knowing that the word "free" will tickle our ears. It sounds SO good. But in real life, medical care is expensive. It won't stop being expensive just because the government mandates it to be so. "So let it be written, so let it be done." (From the Ten Commandments--ask Pharoah how that worked out for him.) Let's delve into these two ideas. Nothing in life is free: I touched on this in my last post, but there are lots of people that get "free" health care in American right now. (Just because I'm bringing this up doesn't mean that I'm necessarily against it, but we have to deal in realities here.) The government has mandated that all patients that ...
